Hello everyone! As you may (or may not) remember, I participated in a book blogger swap recently, which was hosted by Chaotic Goddess Swaps. To quickly recap, participants that signed up for the swap were paired with a partner, and the goal of the swap was to send a box that contained the following:
- 1 Book from your partner’s wishlist
- 1 Book you love and recommend they read
- 1 Other book of your choice
- Other book-related goodies
After being paired with my awesome partner Heather at Nightly Reading (check her out, you won’t be disappointed!), we exchanged a few e-mails back and forth to acquaint ourselves, an then we got to swapping!
Unfortunately I didn’t receive my box before I left for 12 days on a trip to the Paralympics in Brazil. While I was reluctant to return back to the States and have my awesome trip end, I was really excited to get home to the swap box that I knew was waiting for me! YAY, presents!
My initial reaction upon receiving the box was oh my gosh, this is so adorable! because the box was wrapped in polka dotted pink and gold wrapping paper (which I should have taken a picture of, but my excitement got the best of me and I tore it open immediately, so oops, sorry about that). This was almost immediately followed by guilt because my box to Heather was just a plain old brown cardboard box with some colorful tape holding it all together (sorry Heather, I suck on presentation, please forgive me).
Now … onto what was in the box!
The first few things I pulled out of the box proved that Heather must have read the About Me section, because they elated the freakishly organized part of me! There were sticky notes, a weekly planner, stickers, and a small note from Heather.
Then there were binder clips, pens, more sticky notes, and these really adorable (and scented!), magnet bookmarks! I am super excited about the bookmarks because I’ve just recently started using the magnetic ones, and I’m totally loving them. I’m pumped to have more to add to my collection (plus, HELLO, scented).
Ahhh! The next gift was an kick ass Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry shirt. Heather knew what an HP freak fanatic I am, so this was a really exciting addition to the box. Next up: the books!
I held myself off from tearing these open long enough to get a picture of the adorable wrapping paper! Pretty right? Imagine coming home from a vacation to a box wrapped in this paper sitting there waiting for you. So much love.
The first book that I opened was a book that Heather loved and recommended that I read. Her pick was The Falconer by Elizabeth May. I know I’ve heard the name of this book and seen it around, but it wasn’t really on my to-read-radar. I immediately read the inside cover and man, this sounds wicked! Really excited to have it on my shelves.
Next up was Heather’s pick for a book that she was interested in but hasn’t yet read, which was The Vanishing Throne by Elizabeth May. I swear, it was like Heather could read my mind and see into my soul. When dealing with series’, one of my biggest struggles is cliffhangers. I HATE THEM. If I can keep myself in check long enough to wait for an entire series to be released before starting it, then I will. It’s my preferred approach, because waiting for the next book to be released is excruciating. Like, I’d rather sleep in a pit full of snakes than wait and not know what the heck is going on. I also really hate only owning part of a series, so getting the second book right after getting the first was the best.
Lastly, from my own wishlist, Heather sent me The Star Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi. This one has been on “BUY NOW” list for quite some time, so I’m glad to finally have it!
On my Swap Box…
I don’t think that it’s physically possible for me to send enough thank you’s to Heather for this amazing swap box! The anticipation was worth it, I had such a fun time opening it, and loved everything that was inside. I’m happy to have been introduced to a new series, as well as acquire a book that I’ve been wanting to read for quite some time. Thank you, Heather, you are a wonderful human!
On the Overall Swap…
This was my first time participating in the swap and my overall thought is why can’t this happen every month?! I had such a fun time learning about a new blogger, picking everything to send to her, and receiving a box full of goodies back! It was like Christmas, but totally bookey and wonderful. I will definitely be participating again! Thank you, Chaotic Goddess Swaps!
